AQUATIC CENTER POOLS LIKELY CLOSED ALL SUMMER
Douglas County Parks & Rec announced the following yesterday:
BOUNDARY WATERS AQUATIC CENTER IS GETTING A MAJOR UPGRADE!
Installation starts on Monday, March 31st, aiming to provide year-round comfort. Both pools will be closed during this time, and while a reopening date is not yet available, updates will be communicated. This is Phase 1 of 2, with Phase 2 beginning later this summer. Thank you for your understanding and patience as improvements are made.

Approval was made in January to replace light fixtures and lamps around the pool area at a cost of $42,614 to be funded through the aquatic center budget.
Other work being done includes a complete overhaul of the pool areas and locker rooms. The existing plaster will be removed down to the gunite shell and all interior tiles will be removed. Pool surfaces will be pressure washed, tiles will be re-installed as well as anchors for handrails and ladders. New depth marker tiles and no diving safety tiles will be added. Existing lockers and fixtures will be removed. New non-slip flooring will be installed. New sinks and vanities will be installed. The flooring in lobby areas will be renovated using Epoxy-Quartz non-slip flooring. A request for proposal I found stated that this work would commence on July 14 with a completion timeline of 75 days.
