DOUGLASVILLE POLICE BLOTTER
FROM THE DOUGLASVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT:
*Updates on cases at the Douglasville Police Department – March 2025*
Patrol Division:
On March 7 patrol stopped a vehicle around Hwy 5 and Douglas Blvd regarding a traffic infraction. The departments K-9 alerted on the vehicle and 1.3 pounds of Marijuana, cocaine, and a firearm were recovered. The driver was arrested and charged with the following: Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Schedule II Narcotics, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and traffic charges.
On March 25 officers were dispatched to the Chevron on Veterans Memorial Hwy regarding an armed robbery. Officers swarmed the area and were given a description of the suspects who fled on foot. Patrol made contact with the suspects in the surrounding area and quickly took one subject in custody as the others fled on foot. Our K-9 Unit and the drone were deployed in the area to assist in locating the other suspects. The suspects were located hiding in a drain and taken into custody. Merchandise and a firearm were recovered. The suspects were all juveniles and charged with the robbery.
Crime Reduction Unit:
On March 7 members of CRU stopped a 2023 Tahoe on Interstate 20. After further investigation during the traffic stop it was determined that the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) was altered. The true VIN was discovered and the vehicle returned stolen out of California. The driver was from Alabama.
Detectives Division - Crimes Against Persons:
On March 25 units responded to an Armed Robbery call at Chevron,12241 Veterans Memorial Hwy. While en route a foot pursuit with the suspects was initiated by Patrol. Detectives assisted with the perimeter and deployed drones to locate the suspects. Three of the four were arrested and the investigation began to identify the fourth. Later that evening the fourth suspect had been identified and warrants issued for his arrest. All the evidence was recovered including the firearm used in the crime.
Detectives Division - Crimes Against Property:
On March 4 Detectives received a case reference an entering auto (a.k.a. Theft form a Motor Vehicle) that occurred at Gable Sporting Goods. The suspect was seen entering a truck and taking an iPad. The iPad was recovered a short time later by a concerned citizen who found it sitting on top of a garbage can. The video was recovered from the store. The suspect appeared to be a teen. Follow-up investigation at a local high school yielded a positive identification of the juvenile suspect. A juvenile warrant was completed and submitted for his arrest.
